Glenda
Glenda has worked at Kartesz Family
Eye Care since March 2008. She was
born in North Carolina but has lived
in Roanoke for a long time. Glenda
thinks it is a great place to live! Last
year she had to face several sudden
and difficult situations that changed
her life. She now looks forward to new and exciting challenges. Glenda enjoys reading, watching sporting events, traveling when she can, and spending time with family and friends.
Robin (Thomas)
Robin has worked at this office since October
1975 for Dr. J. B. Rapoport. In the spring of
2003 the office was acquired by Dr. Andrew C.
Kartesz. Robin has been a licensed optician
with the state of Virginia since 1978. She is
married to Eric Thomas, a local real estate
broker, and has two children, Erica and Brad.
She was born in Roanoke and has always
called this valley home, only visiting other
areas of the country. Robin's job includes
waiting on patients for their eye glass frame
selections and advising of the different lenses,
materials, and finishes that best meet their
needs for work and play. She is also involved
in the making of the glasses, helping contact
patients, and running different tests that patients may need before seeing the eye doctor. She looks forward to seeing our past and future patients.

Doctors
Dr. Kartesz moved back to his hometown and worked for a private practice optometrist from 1999-2003. He met his wife Shannon there and they married in 2001. Shannon, Adair (daughter) and Dr. Kartesz moved to Roanoke in 2003 when he purchased the Roanoke Peters Creek Road practice. In 2006, he purchased the Rocky Mount practice from optometry school friends. He continues to enjoy all of the new and established patients he gets to help each week.
Dr. Kartesz, Shannon and Adair live in Southwest Roanoke County with their two dogs, Cloey and Wally, where Adair goes to Cave Spring High School. His hobbies include hunting, fishing and golf. He is an avid bass fisherman, having been sponsored by Anglers Choice and Ranger Boats for the past three years. He also enjoys traveling with his family. Shannon, Adair and Dr. Kartesz are members of Cave Spring United Methodist Church and do volunteering with the Rescue Mission and Saint Francis Service Dogs here in Roanoke.
Dr. Neysa A. Allen
Southwest Virginia is home to Dr. Neysa
Allen. Dr. Allen grew up in Franklin
County and graduated from Mary Baldwin
College in Staunton with a Bachelor of
Arts degree in Biology. After receiving
her Doctorate of Optometry from the
University of Alabama at Birmingham
School of Optometry, she wanted to
return to the Southwest Virginia to
provide its residents with friendly,
progressive eye care.
Dr. Allen has practiced primary care
optometry in the Roanoke Valley for
over twenty years and actively
participates in the post-operative care of her cataract and LASIK patients. Having recently served as Clinical Director at TLC Roanoke, Dr. Allen is a certified LASIK consultant and continues her interest in refractive surgery. She is dedicated to providing her patients with exemplary care and is delighted to be a part of the Kartesz team.
Presently, Dr. Allen is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Virginia Optometric Association, and her local optometric society. She attends Sandy Ridge Baptist Church in Rocky Mount and enjoys working-out, traveling with her husband Lewis, and being in the kitchen.
Dr. Ashley Veloso
Dr. Andrew Kartesz
Dr. Kartesz was born in West Virginia and raised in Ludlow, a small town in northwestern Pennsylvania. He graduated from Kane High School in 1991 and continued his education at Penn State University, graduating magna cum laude in 1995 with a degree in Biology. From there his schooling took him to Memphis, TN, where he spent four years and graduated from Southern College of Optometry in 1999.

Rossi
Rossi is the Office Manager at Kartesz Family Eye Care. She is a native Roanoke Valley girl and couldn't imagine a better place to be. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Charles, and they have two beautiful girls, Hailey and Kinsey, as well as two K-9 family members, Jack and Molly. They spend their spare time at Smith Mountain Lake where they can enjoy both the water and the beautiful mountain views. Rossi looks forward to the daily interaction with our valued patients and hopes to include YOU among them!
Connie
Connie is a licensed optician. She has worked at this office for over 35 years. She has two children and 6 grandchildren. Connie and her husband love to travel.
Jordan
Jordan works in the front office and in the optical lab as well. She helps where needed and enjoys her job and duties.When she is not working, she is spending time with her family. She firmly believes eye care is important and hopes to see you soon.
Rocky Mount Office Staff
William
William has worked at Rocky Mount Family Eye Care for the last 7 1/2 years, the last four of which he has worked for Dr. Kartesz. William has been a licensed optician for fifteen years. He is responsible for verifying prescriptions to make sure they are what the doctor has prescribed. He helps patients with their frames and lens selections, as well as making adjustments and doing repairs on eyeglasses. William and his wife Mary (also a licensed Optician) enjoy taking their grandchildren with them on their camping trips. They may need a bigger camper before long. William and Mary have eight grand kids now! William enjoys doing woodworking, fishing, camping and is a big fan of drag racing. GO STEELERS!

Robin is a licensed optician with thirty
years experience, mostly management.
She enjoys working with our patients
and all aspects of working in our optical
practice. Robin is also an independent
contractor with ITT Night Vision. She
goes on site to fit, order and dispense
safety glasses. Robin loves what she
does. She believes that her goal is to
make patients comfortable and to help
them make the best decision that will benefit their style in eyewear. She feels it is her mission to educate the patients on what is available and best meets their needs. Robin helps with our practice in the optical, pretesting and the lab.
Robin lives in Roanoke with her two dogs names Meko and Cody. She spends her time with her best friends and her mom and enjoys traveling, reading and the sun. She would enjoy seeing you in our office soon and would be happy to answer all of you optical questions.

Mandy
Mandy is the Office Manager at Rocky Mount Family Eyecare Center. She helps where needed and enjoys her job and duties.
Niki
Niki is an all around the office gal. She currently works at the front desk and most often will be the smiling face that greets you. In addition to checking patients in and out, she answers the phones, makes our appointments, and manages the files. Niki is a “people” person and enjoys interacting with patients and co-workers. She is a valuable asset to the office and is excited to be a part of Rocky Mount Family Eyecare Center.
Laura
Laura works in our optical department as a dispensing optician. She also assists our eye doctors in fitting of contact lenses. Born and lived in the Roanoke area all her life, she has worked in the optical industry since 1986. She is married to Steve Potter. They have two beautiful shih tzus names Sophia and Coco. Laura finds her mission helping people feel and look great in their new eyewear. In her free time, Steve and Laura enjoy walking, spending time with family and friends, and riding their Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Stephany
Stephany was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Virginia 3 years ago to be closer to her mother. She is the mother of 2 boys and has 3 granddaughters. Stephany has been in the Optical business since 1992. She is an assistant youth Pastor at the Assembly of God Church and is a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan! In her spare time she enjoys watching football, visiting with family and friends, reading and baking.
Tanisha
Tanisha lives in Botetourt County with her husband and 2 children. She enjoys her job working in the front office, and in her spare time she likes to relax an watch TV.
